Hangnaameedhoo – South Ari Atoll – Maldives
Why is Hangnaameedhoo Special?
Peaceful, heart-warming and genuine people on a small wild island, yet still unspoiled from over-commercialization.
Scuba Therapy has looked to find a suitable location to provide its services to the guests for a couple of years. Hangnaameedhoo was indeed a great location for its distance from the airport, comfortable bikini beach, several wild uninhabited islands and fantastic dive sites in close proximity.
But, most of all, kind-hearted souls.
The moment you arrive you feel welcomed here.
The people of this island have a charming touch of character and hospitality.
Scuba Therapy felt the urge to belong here.
Hangnaameedhoo is also a great location for scuba diving, with over 50 dive sites in 1-hour radius, with a dhoni. Some great spots are so unique and full of diversity that the government of the Maldives have decided to mark them as marine protected areas. Furthermore, in the area, there are still several dive sites yet to be discovered!
What is the role of Scuba Therapy in Hangnaameedhoo?
We aim to become a reputed dive centre in the Maldives.
Scuba Therapy was created to provide a quality and competitive diving service for guests that visit to discover the island and the reachable areas.
Our focus is also on improving the difficult situation we face with plastic in Hangnaameedhoo, like in any other island.
We plan to provide water filling stations around the island, so that guests don’t not need to carry plastic bottles, but use reusable water canisters. We will also organise beach clean-ups together with the islanders, every now and then, in order to spread the awareness and importance of a cleaner environment for a better future.
