When is the best time to dive in Maldives?
Diving is great throughout the year in the Maldives. Unless it is windy and choppy with a lot of white caps on the sea, we could always depart for a dive.
Unlike most places in the world, we do not have a specific season for diving. But, keep in mind, scattered showers can be experienced even on a sunny day.
Rain can last at maximum for a week, and then it clears up.
Late June and the end of July are considered to be more of the monsoon season.
Maldives experiences 2 particular seasons. Irvai (North East winds) and Hulhangu (north winds)
Iruvai has 9 sub-seasons. Each season lasts approximately 2 weeks.
Hulhangu has 18 seasons. Each season also lasts about 2 weeks.
Download the Maldivian mobile application “nakaiy nevi” to learn more about the seasons of the Maldives.
When is the best season to find whale sharks and manta rays?
Apart from all other marine life, if Mantas and Whale Sharks are on your bucket list, Alif Dhal (South Ari) Atoll has these species throughout the year. During the seasonal changes the mantas and whale sharks move around. South Ari is famous for its encounters with the whale shark even during diving. There are over 400 individual whale sharks that have been spotted in this Atoll since the Whale Shark Marine Research Team has started keeping records. Some of these whale sharks are often spotted in the region multiple times a year. We organize day trips to sites with mantas and whale sharks.
Can anyone go scuba diving?
Anyone between 8 to 10 can do a bubble maker dive in shallow water, with a max depth of 2m.
From 10 years onwards you can sign up for a try dive or an open water course. Kids will remain as junior divers until they reach appropriate age.
Please check the list of medical sicknesses.
Any YES would require verification from a relevant doctor before we can take you diving.
How do I pack for 1 or 2 weeks of stay at Hangnaameedhoo?
Almost all the guest houses provide essential amenities, although if you have a favourite shampoo or conditioner it would be advised to bring it along.
The temperature during the day is between 28 to 30 (Degrees Celsius)
